COURSE OVERVIEW


The Tableau Certified Data Analyst certification is intended for individuals who enable stakeholders to make business decisions by understanding the business problem, identifying data to explore for analysis, and delivering actionable insights.


This credential validates both core Tableau knowledge and hands-on development skills of employees, partners, customers, and freelancers, who need to work with various Tableau products including Tableau Desktop, Tableau Prep, and either Tableau Server or Tableau Online.


Duration: 2 days / 16 hours

COURSE OBJECTIVES

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

·      Connect to, prepare, and transform data from various sources using Tableau Desktop and Tableau Prep.

·      Analyze data using calculations, filters, parameters, table calculations, and analytical features.

·      Create interactive visualizations, dashboards, and stories that deliver actionable business insights.

·      Apply data modeling and geographic analysis techniques to support informed decision-making.

·      Publish, manage, and maintain Tableau content on Tableau Server and Tableau Cloud.

·      Develop the knowledge and practical skills required to successfully prepare for the Tableau Certified Data Analyst certification exam.

COURSE OUTLINE


Domain 1: Connect to and Transform Data

·      Connect to Data Sources

o  Choose an appropriate data source

o  Choose between live connection or extract

o  Connect to extracts

o  Connect to spreadsheets

o  Connect to .hyper files (or .tde files)

o  Connect to relational databases

o  Pull data from relational databases by using custom SQL queries

o  Connect to a data source on Tableau Server

o  Replace the connected data source with another data source for an existing chart or sheet

·      Prepare data for analysis

o  Assess data quality (completeness, consistency, accuracy)

o  Perform cleaning operations.

o  Organize data into folders.

o  Use multiple data sources (establish relationships, create joins, union tables, blend data)

o  Prepare data by using Data Interpreter, pivot, and split.

o  Create extract filters.

·      Perform data transformation in Tableau Prep

o  Choose which data transformation to perform based on a business scenario.

o  Combine data by using unions.

o  Combine data by using joins.

o  Shape data by using aggregations.

o  Perform filtering.

o  Shape data by using pivots

·      Customize fields

o  Change default field properties (types, sorting, etc.)

o  Rename columns.

o  Choose when to convert between discrete and continuous.

o  Combine sheets into a dashboard by using containers and layout options.
